Based on an in-depth analysis of what life means to Brazilians, we changed the life insurance industry: instead of compensating death, we created a new equation value to reward those who want to live more and live better. Itaú Unibanco (the country's largest private bank) and BOX1824 (a reference for behavioural and innovation trend studies) designed together a daring and innovative project: based on board research, studies and cultural analysis carried out with beta consumers, they began to redesign the insurance business model in Brazil.
This case study takes place amidst a familiar backdrop sector funding cuts driving service reform. In this instance, this meant the proposed integration of separate behaviour change support services- for smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, inactivity, and poor diet- into a holistic, healthy lifestyle service offer.
James Dean and Justin Bieber have one thing in common - they captured the imagination of young people in their generations by tapping into identity crisis. While identity crisis itself is not new, the nature of identity and its expression is changing. The need for studying identity has never been as critical as it is now, as alignment to this multi-faceted identity is guiding decisions today. We see this through how they talk about brands, how they align with causes and which videos go viral. However, studying identity presents its own set of challenges. In this paper, we discuss these challenges and the Selfie project as one of the solutions.
