Abstract:
In response to the growing traffic problems in our towns, new urban transportation systems - in particular cabin taxis - have been developed in the Federal Republic of Germany in the last few years. Since the construction and economic operation of the cabin taxis depend also on the population's acceptance of and willingness to use them, Battelle-Institut on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Research and Technology has conducted two case studies on citizen participation in the planning of new transportation systems, one in Marl and one in Erlangen.
