Abstract:
The free flow of goods is one of the principal objectives of the EEC Treary. In the case of the pharmaceutical industry, the implications of this concept continue to be influenced by member States' national politics and the fact that every facet of activity in the pharmaceutical industry is subject to legislation. By the end of November 1980 the EEC Commission has the task of submitting to the Council of Ministers proposals for the removal of the remaining barriers to the free movement of proprietary medicinal products. This impending development is creating the long delayed framework within which the pharmaceutical industry and the regulatory authorities will have to work closely together as partners, at national and Community levels.
