Building an online rural panel in an offline market

Date of publication: March 12, 2007

Catalogue: Asia Pacific 2007

Abstract:

The paper relates the story of building an online rural panel in Malaysia, an emerging market with low Internet penetration. Until now, tapping the rural mind has been a time consuming, costly and unreliable business; but we can't do without those rural opinions. Moving towards online research in the rural areas, however, takes commitment and effort in connecting with panelists. This paper, sharing challenges, obstacles and lessons learnt, aims to inspire panel providers worldwide.
