Ecotel's peoplemeter panel

Date of publication: June 15, 1988

Abstract:

The presentation developed in this paper is based on three very concrete subjects. The two first ones, concentrate on the same matter: controls, although from very different perspectives. The Daily Control of the Sample, which was set-up upon the first installations, illustrates elements, mainly exogenous, which work on the daily decrease of the sample. In how much and how the sample is reduced, if by sorting any significant bias, is the main objective of this analysis. We have then developed a Telephone Coincidental Control to validate audience results. The continuity of this type of control (it will have a permanent character) will enable us to detect the parameters regulating the behavior of the panelists. The third chapter, which we have genetically titled "Audience Analysis" gathers the results of our panel as compared to those obtained by the "Estudio General de Medios" (National Media Survey). The EGM is the only source that, for years, has set the Spanish audience for the media. Furthermore, this comparison guides us in detecting phenomena through the peoplemeter, that could not be otherwise observed
