Abstract:
Data is the oil that fuels our era of innovation, technology and artificial intelligence. Data is rapidly growing, is infinite and does not ?depreciate? in value. Data can transform businesses by unlocking new insights and opportunities. On the flipside, this era also suffers from ?data obesity?. Businesses are geared to create data lakes, to house and make sense of vast amounts of data they either collect or own, from diverse sources, in varying formats. Yet, in its rawest form, data offers little or no value. Raw data is akin to scattered pieces of information (plain ingredients) that make no sense unless tied together (i.e., the sauce that binds the dish), to enable business decisions.
