Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a qualitative research study among diabetic patients that identifies distinct patient clusters based on existing attitudes and prevalent mindsets. Based on subsequent sharing of this data with leading endocrinologists and other diabetes treating specialists, the importance of this study as a key tool in the physician's armamentarium is addressed. As the role of the study expanded from a patient mindset deciphering tool to a tool that facilitated physicians to carry out in-clinic patient profiling and customized counseling, both the client and the agency was able to provide the physician with an instrument that helped identify distinct clusters in the in-clinic setting and along with the client administer better disease counseling and enhance compliance and expectation management from the prescribed therapy.
