Abstract:
Cellular communications is the main segment of the telecommunications market in Russia that has been rapidly growing in the last years. The main indicators of growth are: cellular penetration and revenue exceeded wire line indicators in 2003; and cellular advertising expenditures increased 8.5 times in the last four years. Main market trends are centralization and reduction of cellular rates. Advertising support of non-voice services is growing. Wireline communication development is slow; it is treated as basic means of voice and data transfer. Internet is rapidly growing, yet with still low penetration.
