Abstract:
Opinion surveys and market research have been developed thanks to their bases on two other sciences: philosophy, which helps in drawing up the questions to be asked, effectively, and mathematics which enables the opinions of a large body of people to be deduced from the replies furnished by a few. Therefore, in making a survey, the inquirer is up against the rigid discipline of mathematics in all its dryness and the picturesqueness of psycho- analysis with all its charm.
