Abstract:

Tri Mumpuni is an agricultural engineer who has been campaigning for community development and renewable energy for decades. Early experiences working with USAID and UNDP helped her develop understanding of how to create community-based models. In her keynote she will discuss the philosophy and patterns of action needed to for intrinsic social impact. She will address concerns, such as social injustice, deprivation and impoverishment impeding the paradigm shift needed to understand and analyze the problem. As such, she will relate to the prerequisite way of thinking for such initiatives to be able to create empowering effect and rural development impact, and offer contribution to sustainable development efforts. She will focus on the mechanics behind such empowerment integrated in a renewable energy project implementation. Considering these implications, she will further present alternative action strategies needed for the improvement of the recent situation.
