Abstract:
The paper describes research that has been carried out into grocery retailing across Asia. Its focus is on the entry of new players into these markets and the impact that they are having. Headlines would suggest that global retailers are driving the majority of change within these markets. This paper identifies some of the key consumer shopping trends and looks at the reasons behind them and their implications. A wide array of information sources is used including retail census studies, quantitative shopper research, consumer panel and retail tracking data.
