Abstract:
The modern pharmaceutical information center can be a key resource for decision making, but in order for this to occur and for line and staff management to get what they need from this center, several things are necessary, in addition to the obvious support and funding: A dedicated professional staff. .A clear set of information boundaries for the Center Continual support from MIS Strong business skills of the Center's management. This last point is probably the most important, as the Director of the Center must recognize that the Center must be run in the same manner that a business is run, not simply as a staff function that responds when asked. In addition, where appropriate, analysis of relevant information and implications for the firm should be provided in a usable format. Both hard and soft data serve as the inputs to the Center, obtained from a variety of sources that the Center contracts for, both internally and externally.
