Abstract:
Conventional research methods tend to lack efficiency as they do not take into consideration the specific quality of moving images: their sequentiality, and the resulting sequence of perception. Therefore it seems futile to further develop aspects of the traditional impact- and resonance research. Experimental explorations of adolescents prove that different forms of perception, depending on the sequentiality of the visual material, occur in a systematic relation to external sociodemographic factors. Therefore results of detailed video clip analyses which relate the sequence of the cutting script to the test subjectâs reactions can be of particular value for target group oriented research, OSIRIS, the Online Statistical Interactive Reference Information System, has been developed to relate the test subjectâs orientation to the sequence of visual events.
