Abstract:
This study, the largest ever carried out on the subject, has approached the meat problem in its totality: 1. At the level of products (beef/veal, pork, sheep meat and poultry) have been studied; 2. All the main meats at the level of countries: all the countries of the world market have been examined; 3. From the structure standpoint: the whole chain from breeding to retail distribution has been considered without forgetting the peripheral agents who influence the meat system (public or para-public organisations, producers of animal feed, users of the fifth quarter, etc). In its analysis of the probable 1985 situation, the study puts considerable emphasis on the phenomena of structure and of price, which have appeared to be crucial to the GIRA researchers.
