Abstract:
The author presents an original case study to illustrate the potential benefit of improved research design trough empathy and design thinking, The case study shows that, between extrinsically and intrinsically motivated groups, there was no significant difference in participation and performance, but there was a difference in resources expended. With interactive improvements in the individual motivating factors and tools, researchers can carry out larger and better experiments to explore these relationships further.
