Abstract:
As a media source striving to provide independent information to Belarusians, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) sought to understand the way young activists in this authoritarian country gather information so as to better target them. The project, developed by the InterMedia Survey Institute and RFE/RL, combined analysis of the weekly media habits of these 'young influentials' with one-on-one interviews to explore their reactions to RFE/RL radio and online products they were asked to evaluate. RFE/RL then used the results to further tailor its output.
