Abstract:
It is difficult to find general principles in web survey design. Empirical research is critical to reveal best practices in the future. This paper presents an additional approach to complement empirical findings. A specific definition of e-interviews serves as a reference data gathering method for e-surveys. The features of e-interviews are discussed, and a simple method to assess e-surveys against the proposed reference is presented. Finally, several current practices in online surveying are discussed in the light of the proposed methodology.
