Abstract:
Publishing managements which believe they are in 'different' circumstances from the rest of the industry will never survive the next couple of decades - even though this will be a period of tremendous opportunity. Indeed, the years already passed since 1973 have been a marvellous economic decade, believe it or not - even though the oil price explosion ended general strong Western economic expansion, maybe forever. The marvel was that the same dismal decade saw the creation of more genuine new companies, new self-made fortunes and new revolutionary successes than any such period in history.
